Reading Eggs is an on-line learning tool that encourages reading through games and activities. There are 4 levels of learning that cover children ages 3-13.
Croix was very excited to use this site. He had a lot of fun using it. This program could be used for many ages. Will even used it for a little bit, he already has a big enough work load that we just couldn’t find time for him to use it that much. Plus when he did the placement test at the start the mouse was not working well for him so it tested him pretty low. So he was kind of bored. I couldn’t figure out how to let him retake the test. As for Croix he had a blast.
After you log in your child is then led to a map like this. They follow the map and move along. someday Croix would do 3 –4 levels in one day and some times he had a heck of a time. He struggled with a few games that you had to click on the word they said as they words were moving he couldn’t get them fast enough so I had to help him with that one. Other wise they were very easy to play. He also thought it was pretty fun because he could change his avatar, so we had fun playing with that. As he played thru the levels you earn points and you are able to buy fun things to make it a little more fun.
In this game here he had to match the words with the pictures.
All and all I do will say that Reading Eggs is worth the try. You can do a 15 day free trial to see what you think. After that it there are many options to pay for it. I am not sure we will be buying this program after our trial is over. It is awesome just not a big fan of so much time spent on the computer. Croix does not have the best eye sight and after he using the computer for too long he complains of a head ache and rubs his eyes a lot. This is all while having his glasses on. If it were not for that I would buy at least a year subscription for him.
I am participating in a sponsored campaign hosted by "The'>http://thehomeschoollounge.com">The Homeschool Lounge Review Team. I received a 5 week membership to Reading'>http://readingeggs.com">Reading Eggs to facilitate this review. All opinions stated are my own.
