Busy Quilting

I have been quilting up a storm lately for some craft shows. I just thought I would show them off. The pictures are not the best since I used my phone to take the pictures.

I have been having so much fun quilting. I love that God has blessed me with the ability to us my hands in this way. I have a few more I am working on. One that I have been wanting to do for a long time but was scared to start. It is a Hexagon that has to be hand pieced and since right now I am waiting for my new machine to get here I have time to do this. I am also working on one of those beloved favorites the Little Bonnet girls. I am so excited to see these two finished.

organizing my sewing room

I do have to say these pictures are kind of embarrassing because of the state that my sewing was in. I did this to myself I guess. When ever I we would have to find a place for something that I was at a loss of where to put it I would say go put it in my room. So it got filled up pretty darn fast. As you can see we tried to make the room fun looking by putting fun colored paper on the wall because this room is un finished I needed some color.

Scary huh?

So I had to clear out everything and give everything a home or got rid of it.

I moved my work table to under the window for better light. As you can tell the walls are still not finished. That will come this spring because we have a big project of making one very big room into 2 rooms so we will have all that stuff out and going so we will just do it then.

I hung my thread on the wall and in the plastic shelf thing is all the things I have done and for sale on my etsy store. The drawer things have all the attachments for things like my snap press and sewing machines. Also needles and other sewing notions.

Here is the wall that had my table before. I put my shelf with glass jars that have buttons, snaps, elastic and much more in them. On top of the shelf I have my box of ribbons and some of my pretty fat quarters. We will be adding a large shelf around the 2 walls. The walls have a self but they are very skinny I want something larger.

This table is for cutting and such. It also has my vinyl cutter and the drawers have things that I need for the cutter also tools for cutting. on the selves above is my fabrics and vinyl rolls and on the top shelf which you cant see hold my scrap booking stuff. I also hung my rotary cutter rulers on the wall to get them out of the way. The boxes on the 2nd shelf hold un finished quilts. Man one day I will get to them.

This room is not even close to being done but it is a good start. I have so many ideas for it. Different shelves, curtains, flooring, walls and so much more!

I hope this helps you get the bug I have right now is to get everything organized in my house.

God Bless,

Jen

Making the universe

summer 20011 058

This year we are using Exploring Creation with Astronomy for my 3 boys (5th, 2nd, preK) Croix just hangs out and absorbs anything he can. They are enjoying this so far.I love unit studies! We all get to learn together.

Lesson 1 What is Astronomy? Well you should of see Wills face (2nd grade) when he saw the book and realized we were going to be learning about space.

Why did God create the Universe? This is my favorite part of this book is it give all the glory to our Creator God! He should always be glorified!

Not only do we learn about Astronomy but we also learn about God too. Here it was talking about the star that was shining in the sky when Jesus was born. So they learned about how God used the Stars as signs.

So in this Lesson they learned all the planets names and the order they are in. If you can see they have Pluto in there as a planet so this is kind of an out dated book. But the new book is the same it just talks about the findings of Pluto not being a planet so what we did was just researched it and learned the truth.

Another thing I love about this book is the projects that we get to do. So this section we made a model of the solar system.

Sun

I am planning on hanging this up from the ceiling in our school room and as we study each planet we will string notes for each one. So maybe in the next day or 2 I will have it hung up. The next Lesson will be on the sun so hopefully we will have it up by the time we are finished with the lesson.

I am working on a few quilts for some people and I am hoping to be making some more quilts and such. So I wanted to have a sewing area because I was getting tired of doing it on the kitchen table. I am enjoying my little area!! The pictures above are of one of the 2 quilts I am making. Aren’t they just such yummy colors??
