Okay so I was very excited to do New York! One of my places I want to go is to New York and well then in this same trip I want to go to Maine and Massachusetts in real life but I guess this will have to do until then.
Today we are going to take a trip to New York This was a fun one. Here is our adventure thru New York.
First of all we had to find it on the map.
Here is Tootsie Roll working on his Worksheet.
Then we located the state capital Albany. Did you know that New York was the 11th state? It is one of the original 13 colonies.
Here is the state flag.
State Animal is the Beaver
State fish is the Striped Bass
State Bird is the Easter Bluebird. This bird is so pretty!
State flower is the Rose
We learned a little about Norman Rockwell

Now doesn’t that look yummy! We also talked about yummy New York style pizza mmmmmmmmmmm………………..
Butterfingers travel log.
I have added something extra for Butterfinger since he is a 5th grader. I love Road Trip USA but I felt like for him he needed a little something extra to go along with it. So we found this (click the pic to follow link). In here there are 3-4 worksheets that go along with Road Trip very well. After we go through the state together he does these worksheets that help him to remember important details, also there is a map activity on each state that is he has to do. This curriculum is a download and is super cheap!
Here he is filling out one of the worksheets. He uses the atlas and his Road Trip USA note book to help him answer the questions.
